University of Cincinnati Medical Center - NICU Renovations

Cincinnati, Ohio

HEALTHCARE
The current Waiting Room for the NICU was old and outdated, not having been updated since the 1990’s.  The UC Foundation agreed to fund raise for the renovation.  Multiple seating areas, laptop bar, kitchenette and children's play area were designed.  New lighting was added to increase the overall brightness.  Colorful canopies were added to create a more human scale to the 2-story space.

In addition, a story wall, located directly across from the NICU entry, was desired to tell inspiring stories of  babies who have survived to childhood and thrived.  The butterfly theme for both the Wall of Hope, and the Waiting room were derived from an existing butterfly image on a divider partition in the Main Waiting room for the OB unit.
